Research Fund of the Ðǿմ«Ã½
The Ðǿմ«Ã½ supports strategic and interdisciplinary projects of its researchers as well as scientific activities of recognized research networks with contributions from the Research Fund. The annual Call for Applications is addressed to scientists of the Ðǿմ«Ã½ who need temporary support in a field that is strategically relevant for the university.
Funding of strategic research projects: Start-up funding for large national and international projects
For this funding line, professors or group leaders who are preparing a major project proposal (e.g. ERC, Horizon Europe or NCCR) as the main responsible person can apply for support. Furthermore, the realization of an innovative interdisciplinary research project can be funded.
Application submission
Applications can be submitted on February 1 and September 1. Please note the details in the Information Sheet on application submission for strategic research projects. Each project must be registered in the of the Ðǿմ«Ã½ prior to application.

Promotion of scientific activities of recognized research networks of the Ðǿմ«Ã½
Established research networks can apply for support from the Research Fund for specific scientific activities (e.g. organization of conferences and symposia, guest lectures, lecture series, visiting scientist programs, workshops, scientific retreats, scientific outreach activities). Applications can be submitted at any time and must be registered in the of the Ðǿմ«Ã½.
Application submission
An Application for recognition of a research network can be submitted to the Research Office by at least five members of Group I or II of the Ðǿմ«Ã½ from at least two different departments. An Application for the extension of a research network can also be submitted to the Research Office. Further information can be found in the Guidelines for University Research Networks.

Innovation Funding
The Innovation Office is the university's central point of contact for the topics of innovation and entrepreneurship. It promotes a dynamic culture of innovation at the Ðǿմ«Ã½ and coordinates the various support services for innovation projects and spin-offs at the university.

Researchers of the Ðǿմ«Ã½ May apply to the Research Fund for a maximum of CHF 50,000 for the preparation of strategic and interdisciplinary projects or for scientific activities of recognized research networks.

What funding categories does the research fund cover?
The Research Fund provides funds for the preparation of major projects as well as for scientific network activities:
Applications for strategic and interdisciplinary projects:
- Salary for a staff member (i.e. study nurse, lab/technical assistant, etc.)
- Funds for leave of absence
- Project-relevant material resources
Applications from recognized research networks at the Ðǿմ«Ã½:
- Scientific activities such as organizing conferences, guest lectures, Visiting Scientist Program, etc.
