The Legal Services team advises and supports members of the university鈥檚 management, the faculties, other organizational units, and university boards on legal questions and in matters that concern the university.

Responsibilities and focus
Legal Services carries out a wide range of activities. It focuses particularly on regulations, contract law, copyright law, laws governing the submission of tenders, laws governing tertiary education, and laws governing personnel. Its services include providing legal advice, supporting projects, and authoring legal documents and opinions.

Regulations
In this area, Legal Services offers assistance in drafting new directives and amendments, up to and including the review phase. It is responsible for publications in the cantonal gazette and on the website. Legal Services is also responsible for managing the university’s body of laws.
Contract administration
Services in this area include reviewing existing draft contracts, as well as drafting and assisting in the preparation of new contracts.
The Legal Services team is responsible for providing support for the negotiation of research contracts and for the commercialization of research findings of organizational units, with the exception of the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Psychology. Appeals system
Legal Services is entrusted with protecting the interests of the university in legal disputes, such as admissions and credit-related appeals as well as personnel appeals. It conducts the required legal negotiations and draws up the legal documents to be sent to the responsible authorities. Examination appeals are usually handled by the faculties themselves. The Legal Services team offers assistance where needed.
