Eligibility to attend individual courses

Based on an agreement between the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), students who are enrolled at FHNW and pay full tuition fees are admitted to the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ without matriculation to attend individual courses and can earn credit points (courses up to a total of 20 credit points per semester). They do not pay any tuition or auditor fees to the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. However, they are not entitled to earn academic degrees (student regulations, § 29).

A special agreement exists for the Joint Degree Master program Subject-specific Teaching and Learning as well as for Biomedical Engineering. These students are already matriculated at the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and do not need to register again. For secondary level I degree programs, all course registrations are handled by PH-FHNW.

Students in secondary level II degree programs and who have remaining requirements to fulfill to earn their subject-scientific qualifications can earn the necessary credit points without proper enrollment at the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ only if the number of credit points does not exceed a total of 20.

Submitting registration sheet / deadlines

The completed and signed registration sheet must be submitted, along with a scan of a student ID or a confirmation of matriculation from the home university valid for the corresponding semester, by e-mail via www.unibas.ch/studseksupportEN in due time. Please send the documents as soon as possible in order to get access to the Online Services by the beginning of the lecture period. The deadline for submission is the first day of the lecture period each semester.

1. Acknowledgement of Submission
   After registration you will be sent an acknowledgement of submission including further information via e-mail.
2. University email Account
   After registration, a letter from IT Services with details of your university email account will be sent to you in the following few days via regular post. In accordance with our student regulations, you must activate this email account and read incoming messages every week. If you already have a UNIBAS email account (@stud.unibas.ch or @unibas.ch), this step is not necessary.
3. Online Services
   The Online Services are available at services.unibas.ch. To log in, please use your unibas email account and enter the corresponding password (not accessible until 24 hours after you activate your email account). The Online Services are used for course registrations and address changes. There you can also see your academic performance at the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ and you can download transcripts of records
4. Course Registration
   Please use the Online Services (services.unibas.ch) for all course registrations. You must register for all courses you wish to attend in due time. Course registration is a prerequisite for sitting examinations and thus for obtaining credit points. In the spring semester 2025, students must register for courses between 1 January and 17 March 2025 at the latest. Transcripts of records

Transcripts of records are issued at the end of February and at the end of August. Transcripts confirm the number of obtained course credits and credit points. These are then available to you in the online services.
